RiaW #229: Atlantis Found Reviewed

We’ve spent a lot of time reading genre fiction aimed at young women, but this is our first dive into older man crap. Atlantis Found by Clive Cussler is just as disturbing as Twilight but for COMPLETELY different reasons.

Dirk Pitt stars in the 15th book about his adventures fighting evil as a kick-ass marine biologist with moderate to high levels of chauvinism. In this book, he has to stop Super Nazis from blowing up the South Pole and creating a new world order from a giant cruise ship. It’s pretty much as silly as it sounds.

But it’s also lots of fun. Especially for Alex, who loves Antarctica, mining, marine biology, and planes that take off vertically. The rest of the team tries to talk him out of liking the book.

“raise the titanic” was also made into a movie in the early 80’s.

  2. Alfje17 says:

Indeed and I’m still trying to find it, as I thought that Sahara was a dumb but enjoyable movie, so that one might be fun too.
I read a lot of the Dirk Pitt books when I was a teenage boy and quite liked them, so maybe the books appeal to men who don’t have sex yet/anymore 😉

I have a friend who was in prison for like two years, and he told me that Clive Cussler novels are super in demand in the clink, because you gotta pass the time, but you want to read something fun and non-challenging.I feel like if I ever went to prison, I could at least finally read “Gravity’s Rainbow.”P.S.Hey, Dirk is Clive Cussler’s son’s name.

  4. Alex Falcone says:

Maybe “I wouldn’t read that if I went to prison” is our next tagline.
