The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen is a heart warming story about a loving family celebrating the holidays.

Correction: In the previous paragraph we mis-identified The Corrections as being heart warming, when it is actually the gut-wrenching recitation of several horrible people bickering for hundreds of pages. We regret the error.

Thanks to Randianne and Ryan for sponsoring this episode, and for correctly identifying that it’s a painful book. We agree.

  1. Randianne says:

It seems that you’ve renamed Ryan as Andy, which is a common mistake when people confuse my name with RaggedyAnn. So it follows that Ryan must be Andy.

  2. Alex Falcone says:

Ugh, I’m the worst. I’ve updated it here. Did we do it on the show too?

  3. Randianne says:

You didn’t do it in the previous episode when you announced the sponsorship, but we haven’t listened to the current episode yet! We’re waiting until we can listen together :PAnd we’d argue that you are not the worst!

  4. Cardboard Tube Knight says:

So am I to understand Sarah will be joining you guys in Ezra’s absence?

  5. Alex Falcone says:

I guess I didn’t make that super clear. Tanya is Ezra’s paternity replacement.

  6. Cardboard Tube Knight says:

No you totally did at the end of the Podcast. I was right in the beginning when I asked that question. Sorry.

  7. Ellen says:

Oh my God, thank you for doing this episode. I read an equally long-winded, unpleasant Jonathan Franzen book and I also only found reviews praising him. I noticed the sexism, but the racism was a surprise!
