There’s this very popular Japanese Manga called Hana Yori Dango (“Boys Over Flowers”). It’s been adapted a bunch of times with varying levels of quality. This is the lowest of those levels.

Boys Before Friends is a web series made by fans of the Manga and loosely based on the story. But instead of high school this one takes place in an elite law/dance grad school that only has 8 students. Also the main actors change every episode. Also also you can’t hear most of the dialogue. It’s pretty bad.

As mentioned on the episode, however, this moment where an actress pretends to be slipping is pretty awesome:

Thanks to Heather for sponsoring this weird and interesting topic. Hope your Twitter club enjoys our episode!

That was so great, you guys! I loved it so much! I really can’t express my joy and satisfaction enough. I was so glad that you picked up on so many of the things that had my friends and I so amused. The one and ONLY thing I can’t believe you didn’t mention was Piper’s backstory about having a pegleg and being a pirate (which was improvised, FYI) as that was such a wonderful moment. But when you can’t hear the dialogue, it’s not surprising you would miss some things. My Twitter/Skype friends and I really do genuinely love Piper. She was the best thing about the series. And I’m glad that you guys had kind words for her, too.
And yes, in sponsoring this episode I do hope more people do experience this as I feel it is something that needs to be experienced. In case anyone was curious, after episode 3, there is a new Zoey as well as a new Liam because of… well… grievances…, but it gets even sadder. There’s not really any sets anymore and it’s mostly being filmed in somebody’s apartment and a LOT of the cast just disappears. They even seemed to be trying to write Piper out of the story, of all the stupid things. And holy crap, it would be so amazing to have Gordon Ramsey come in and “fix” this webseries! I would contribute lots of money to whatever crowdfunding that would make that happen!Again, thanks so much for this. I know I paid you to do it, but still. My friends and I had joked about donating to the crowdfunding for one of those incredible rewards, but I feel like sponsoring this episode was where my money needed to go and it was 100% worth it. I hope to sponsor more episodes of your podcast in the future. Oh, and I’m so happy Ezra was still around to be on the episode! Good luck with the baby! And Sara is just the best! Much love all around. 🙂

Okay, I think the reason we didn’t talk about Piper’s “back story” is because I thought it was a “joke.” I thought she was just trying to scare away the guy from dating her friend and she just wasn’t good about lying. Are you saying the run with that as fact? Also, you’re so welcome. As you mentioned, you paid us, so I don’t feel like we’ve done you a great service, but I’m still happy you enjoyed it. And thank you for supporting our little podcast.

Oh, it was definitely a joke to scare him off. It was just so weird! And totally improvised by the actress. And she does say something in there about the secret ingredient to her cupcakes being dead bodies, but that might be in episode 4? Piper is a weird one. A fantastically weird one.
Also, I forgot to mention the Zoey switch completely confused me, too. I really had the hardest time figuring that out. I couldn’t make up my mind if she was a different actress or not at first. I had to look into it afterwards. I felt so dumb.
