Disney isn’t the kind of company to let any property go to waste. Not when they can make 10 straight-to-DVD computer animated movies in 15 minutes. Hence Tinkerbell and the 6th sequel Tinkerbell and the Pirate Fairy.

The former is the nearly unwatchable start to another Disney franchise and the latter is the more enjoyable installment that just came out. Both follow the world of fairies, specifically Peter Pan’s friend Tinkerbell, as they go about the business of creating spring. It’s a bad business model but the fairies seem to like it.

Thanks to Emily for sponsoring this episode and expanding our world. Thanks also to new Meat Buddies Anna and Kyle!

LOVE THIS EPISODE!!! As the Mom of a 2 & 1/2 year old girl who was just Tinkerbell (with sleeves & a much longer skirt) for Halloween, I’d be glad to tell you ALL about the movies since we own them ALL on Blu-Ray.
2 – Tinkerbell & the Lost Treasure: Tink is picked to make the “Fall Scepter” for the once every 8 years Blue Moon Harvest Festival. This is of course a stupid idea as she breaks the one & only Moonstone for the scepter & that is needed to create the blue dust to keep the pixie dust tree alive. She goes on a long quest to find some magical wish mirror, blah, blah, blah, Terrance finds her & the make the scepter with the broken pieces & it makes the MOST DUST EVER.
3 – Tinkerbell & the Great Fairy Rescue: They go to Fairy Camp on the mainland near a human house, Tink flies off to investigate a horseless carriage & gets captured by the 9 year old Lizzy who lives there. Vidia sees this & gets the whole gang together to go rescue her. Tink helps Lizzy & her father (voiced by Michael Sheen) repair their relationship, all is sunshine & lollipops.
4 – Secret of the Wings: Even though they flew through the Winter Woods in the first movie, apparently now that’s against the rules & neither warm weather fairies nor winter fairies can cross the border. Tink does & her wings light up with cheap fiber optic rope lights – she’s pulled back to her side & sees a Healing Talent fairy to warm her wings so they don’t break. She sews a coat to keep her wings in & sneaks over to the winter side to see “The Keeper” of all fairy knowledge. While there, her wings light up again & she meets her sister Periwinkle whose wings also light up – you know, because they’re IDENTICAL wing sisters born of the same laugh. Peri shows her winter, Tink sneaks her over with a snow machine & shows her the warm side, her wings start to melt, they make it back to the border & the Lord of Winter (voiced by Timothy Dalton) fixes her wings. The snow machine goes berserk & throws the seasons out of balance frosting everything, the pixie dust tree is in danger, Tink flies to winter to get Peri to frost the tree first so it will be safe, all the winter fairies come & save the tree & then we find out Tink cracked her wing when she flew to winter. She & Peri touch wings good-bye & the magical identical wings light up & repair her wing. Yay fairies.
Wow & Yes, I have seen these more times than I would like to count. I will say they have gotten better with each one. My personal rating of the movies go 5, 4, 3, 1, 2. Hope this saves you from having to watch them – unless you have kids. Then you’re screwed. Have fun in 2 – 3 years Ezra!!!

Oh gosh, when I heard you describe an ass as “Anna” I thought you were making a really crappy joke about anorexia and I was appalled. A few of your jokes in early episodes were kind of insensitive, but one of the great things about this show is that you’ve really gotten more socially aware. But hurray, you were celebrating a cool person instead of mocking a shitty condition!

  3. Alex Falcone says:

Oh man, this is great, Sarah. Thanks for the thorough summary. Fairy world seems so fragile and stupid! And there were two born of the same laugh?? There must be a billion fairies!

  4. Alex Falcone says:

Oh man, that is horrible. We really shouldn’t have said Anna before explaining that, we had just started doing it off the air and it continued on.And yeah, we’ve grown up. I’m not proud of everything we’ve done, but I am proud of our growth.

  5. Andrea says:

    Two words folks: dung beetles.
Gotta have Fairies helping out all those dung beetles. Rolling dung balls uphill can be *such* a Sisyphean task, don’t you know.
